It is undeniable that a well cared for rose garden is simply gorgeous, adding color and beauty to any landscape. But one thing you have to consider is roses disease. There are several things that can give your plants problems, but let us look at the most common ones and their causes.

1. Rust – This generally appears as an orange red looking blister that may become black in the autumn, and it can cause injury to the bottoms of the leaves. As spring approaches it forms new growth, and it has no problem surviving the winter months. One way to fix this is to remove any infected leaves in the autumn. Spraying every week or so may also help.

2. Powdery Mildew – This is a fungus that may blanket the leaves and or buds with a fine powder. The powder is generally white and may cause the leaves to turn purple. One way to prevent this type of roses disease is not to plant in areas with a lot of shade, as it may make it too slow for them to dry in early morning, thus keeping the plants too damp. Make sure that there is lots of room for them to breathe, and prune any surrounding plants. Treating with an anti-fungal spray will keep it from destroying your garden.

3. Black Spot – This usually appears as small black spots and fringed edges and causes the leaves to turn yellow. This is pretty common and can be easily rectified by digging tools names with picturesany infected leaves on or around the plant. Artificial spray can often be used to treat or stop this particular roses disease. Watering the plant without getting too much on your leaves and being in an area with lots of sun will usually help the plant dry out faster, thus keeping this fungus from growing.

These diseases and many others can happen to your plants, but with the right precautions, they are usually prevented. Be sure to follow as many precautionary measures as you can to keep these occurrences as minimal as possible. If you do this, and you still find signs of some of these problems despite taking steps to avoid it, there are fairly simple treatments to repair the damage.
